Practice Education
UBC Health supports the integration of practice education across all health and human service programs.
UBC Health is committed to creating and sustaining a culture of collaboration that supports high quality practice education experiences for UBC students across British Columbia. We work closely with health related programs to help build capacity for collaborative practice and team-based care and support the development, implementation, and evaluation of interprofessional learning opportunities in practice. We bring programs together to help address common practice education issues, share best practices, and innovate for integration strategies across programs.
Practice Education Network
Supported by UBC Health, the Practice Education Network (PEN) offers a space for the UBC practice education community to discuss innovations, challenges, and experiences related to practice education. PEN is intended to help strengthen and shape the future of practice education at UBC. Membership is open to UBC faculty, administrators, and staff who support practice education. To join PEN, please email the Education Program Assisant.
Practice Education Portal
The Practice Education Portal supports the scholarship of practice education and serves the greater community of health professional clinical educators and students. The portal provides access to high-quality educational resources appropriate for the practice education setting.
Practice Education Award
The UBC Health Practice Education Award honours an individual or healthcare team that provides outstanding interprofessional collaborative patient-centred education in the practice setting for UBC pre-entry to practice-level students. The award is valued at $1,000 and is presented to an individual or healthcare team in a practice setting.
REACH Action Space
The Rural Education Acceleration and Collaboration in Health (REACH) Action Framework is a guide for planning and action that can be used to enable a unifying approach to addressing the quality and capacity of rural and remote placements. Supported by UBC Health, the REACH Action Space aims to foster discussion and strengthen connections between partners in health professions practice education during the ongoing implementation of the framework.
