The Office of the Vice-President, Health is pleased to announce the appointment of Ben Fair as Assistant Director, Health Systems at UBC Health. Ben joins the UBC Health team today, September 1, 2021.
Ben has worked in healthcare planning and evaluation for 17 years. In his previous role, he was Director of Special Projects at Vancouver Coastal Health for six years, where he led system-wide service improvement initiatives, such as the development of integrated, wraparound community care in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. Ben is passionate about applying evidence to build collective purpose to improve health outcomes, equity, and patient experience. He brings expertise in cross-sector collaborations, partner engagement, health program design and evaluation, and quality improvement. His background spans many sectors of healthcare, from primary care to tertiary services, with emphasis on Indigenous health, team-based care, and mental health and substance use.
In the newly created role of Assistant Director, Health Systems at UBC Health, Ben will provide leadership for operationalizing initiatives and objectives relating to health systems in alignment with the UBC Health strategic plan. He will work with the UBC Health team as well as faculty members and staff across UBC to expand UBC Health’s remit in health systems. Ben will work closely with UBC Health senior leadership (including Dr. Ray Markham, Special Advisor to the Vice-President, Health on Health Systems) to conceptualize and implement a collaborative planning approach in health systems innovations across both the Vancouver and Okanagan campuses of UBC and with external partners.
Please join us in welcoming Ben to his new role.
